I Am A:

Regional Leadership Academy

For years, Delta Chi’s nine governing Regions hosted annual leadership conferences for our active and alumni members. These two-day, Regional Leadership Conferences (also known as RLCs), provided Delta Chi active members an opportunity to gather within their Region, connect with other brothers across North America, participate in professional development opportunities, engage in officer and leadership training, and vote on Regional Business. During the 2023 RLCs, each of Delta Chi’s nine regional bodies voted in favor of the Board of Regents redirecting the 2024 RLC program to a Regional Leadership Academy format. In 2024, Delta Chi’s nine regions voted to continue the Regional Leadership Academy(RLA) program for 2025.

This format will allow Delta Chi members to engage in a weekend of officer development and leadership training. Held over two weekends, chapters/provisional chapters will attend their designated RLA (see below) and participate in a brotherhood experience like no other!

A delegation must meet the attendance standards and the minimum number of student members of the chapter or provisional chapter that have been set by the Board of Regents. The Board may waive or reduce the fine on a motion by the Regent following the Academy and approved by a majority vote of the Board.”

How Do I Register?

Before registering, chapter/provisional chapter representatives attending the program should meet to determine who will be responsible for booking accommodations. This ensures a smooth process and that everyone has a place to stay, and that the chapter/provisional chapter does not reserve more rooms than needed.

  • Example: If your delegation is sending eight members, two (2) members should be designated to reserve a room as part of the registration process (as rooms are designed to have four members to stay per room). All attendees will still need to register themselves, and can indicate preferred roommates on their registration form, but not every individual will need to complete the hotel selection part of the registation.

Chapters/provisional chapters are required to send a minimum of four members to RLA, including their “A” and Dale Carnegie Scholar, but are encouraged to send a full delegation of eight representatives.

PLEASE NOTE: For the 2025 program, each member planning to attend must register individually. Your chapter/provisional chapter "A" will NOT register your entire delegation.

Our collegiate leaders return to their chapters with confidence and new insight through a curriculum focused on leadership development, personal and professional growth, and goal setting.

“A”s’ Academy is a one-of-a-kind opportunity for our collegiate leaders, made possible by the commitment of an all-star facilitation team. This year, "A"s will participate in the "A"s' Academy experience at RLA. Per Delta Chi Law, attendance is required for all incoming "A"s (or "A"s that are in office for spring 2025).

Chapters/Provisional chapters are required to send a minimum of four members to RLA but are expected to send a delegation of at least eight. The incoming chapter “A” (or the “A” that will be in office in January 2025) is expected to attend “A”s’ Academy as stated by Delta Chi Law. • Full Weekend (Friday - Sunday): $415.00
  • Saturday-Sunday Only: $315.00

Room costs differ depending on the number of nights and the location, so specific information can be found on the registration website.

All individuals will need to register themselves to attend RLA using the registration links above. For undergraduate members, it is recommended that each chapter/provisional chapter "A" ensure this is completed during an officer transition meeting or executive board meeting in advance of the priority registration deadline on December 15, to verify that the required attendees are included in the delegation.

Chapters/provisional chapters must have a minimum of four participants registered to meet RLA attendance requirements and remain in good standing with the International Fraternity (including their "A" and Dale Carnegie Scholar).

Yes. Due to the nature of RLA programming, all attendees will be expected to stay at the host hotel regardless of proximity to RLA, and for undergraduates, hotel costs are included in their RLA assessment fee. Participants can expect early mornings and late evenings and the cost of RLA covers lodging, meals, and conference participation.

Undergraduate RLA participants will room with their chapter/provisional chapter brothers. Rooms will accommodate up to four members per room. You may indicate preferred roommates on your registration.

Alumni will have different accommodation options available for them to select as part of their registration, including single room or indicating a preferred roommate.

It is recommended that undergraduate members arrive no later than 4:00 PM local time on the Friday of their RLA weekend. Registration will open at Noon.  Participants will depart prior to lunch on the Sunday of their RLA session (expect to be able to leave the property by Noon at the latest).

If the arrival time will mean that you may miss an academic commitment, a faculty notification memo is available here: RLA 2025 Absence Memo - Faculty

If you have questions about departure and arrival times, please contact your Regent or the Director of Education, Kristen Kardas at kkardas@deltachi.org.

Yes. Regent nominations will occur on Friday evening of RLA, with Regent elections happening on Saturday morning. Programming during RLA will also include a State of the Fraternity and updates.

It is suggested that members who may need to miss a class session because of travel or attending RLA have a conversation early with their faculty members about needing to miss the session. A faculty notice is available to assist with this conversation: RLA 2025 Absence Memo - Faculty

For all other concerns outside of weather, chapters/provisional chapters will need to speak directly with their Regent. Typically, campus events like recruitment or work responsibilities may not be approved, as members should have ample time to accommodate their schedules or find support with other members to ensure that the chapter/provisional chapter is represented at events on campus as well as meeting their minimum requirements to attend RLA.

Typically, a waiver of attendance is only permitted per Delta Chi Law if there is a direct conflict with the timing of final examinations, as certified by a letter from the "BB" - Chapter Advisor to their Regent.

Absolutely. Chapters/provisional chapters can register as many additional members as they wish; however, for every attendee over eight, there will be a cost for each additional member of $150 per person. This also covers the cost of registration materials, meals from Friday dinner to Sunday breakfast, and hotel for two nights.

All attendees will need to register themselves and select a specific officer training track to attend.

Yes! Any member can register themselves to attend RLA. However, they will need to select the specific officer training track they will participate in during RLA. Tracks will be available for all lettered officers, the AMC, and Recruitment Chair.

RLA attire expectations are as follows:

  • Friday: Delta Chi casual for travel and initial sessions
  • Saturday day: Polos and Chinos/Khakis
  • Saturday evening: Suit & tie for dinner/awards, RLA photo, and Ritual exemplification
  • Sunday: RLA shirt (received at check in)/Delta Chi casual for final sessions and travel home.

Alumni are encouraged to attend RLA and participate in all general sessions (including Ritual exemplification, the Dale Carnegie Keynote, the Recruitment Keynote from PhiredUp, and Regional Business Sessions. While undergraduate officers will attending their own small group training sessions, alumni who attend will have their own specific track sessions to learn about important partnerships and training information.

Yes. Every chapter will be invoiced the full cost of attendance, regardless of their RLA delegation size. This is why it is recommended that they send a full delegation of eight to receive the most cost-effective return for their chapter.

Yes. Dale Carnegie Scholars must attend their RLA with their chapter/provisional chapter in order to participate in the program. Scholars will attend virtual introductory sessions in early December and early January 2024 (prior to RLA) and will finish the full Dale Carnegie Course throughout the RLA weekend. They will also have the opportunity to complete their college credit application and learn how to add an exclusive LinkedIn certification to their profiles during RLA.

Delta Chi IHQ Staff and the Board of Regents will continue to monitor winter weather and potential impact on travel or on the programs themselves and communicate as soon as possible. In the event of a winter storm or warning (either at the RLA host site, at your campus location, or travel in between), chapters/provisional chapters may be given accommodations to arrive late or depart early to ensure safety when traveling.

This accommodation will be made on a case by case basis, and should be made in communication with your Regent. Weather-related absences, delays, or early departures will not impact the RLA Assessment each chapter/provisional chapter will be charged. Non attendance would also prohibit a chapter/provisional chapter from being able to qualify for travel assistance.
