During Delta Chi’s 63rd International Convention, delegates voted to enact several key changes to Delta Chi Law. These updates cover essential areas such as Fraternity governance structure and leadership qualifications. As we prepare for the upcoming Regional Leadership Academy (RLA), this information is critical for those interested in running for Regent.
On this page, you’ll find details on the qualifications and expectations required of Regents, along with guidance on submitting your application, which is due no later than December 15th. Board of Regents Overview
Composition of Board
The Board of Regents shall consist of nine (9) voting positions: six (6) Regents as elected by the Regions, the “AA,” the “CC,” and the “DD.” The Retiring “AA” shall serve as a non-voting ex officio member. No member of the Board of Regents shall serve concurrently as the “BB” – Chapter Advisor or as a member of the Alumni Board of Trustees, undergraduate housing corporation, or other housing entity associated with an undergraduate chapter.
Powers and Duties of the Board of Regents
The Board of Regents (Board) between Conventions shall be the supreme legislative body of the Fraternity. Subject to the provisions of Delta Chi Law, the Board shall have full and complete legislative powers. These powers include granting and revoking charters, adopting the annual budget, making other policy determinations, and more as granted by Delta Chi Law.
Qualifications
- Prior service as a Regent, Executive Officer, or a member of the Board of Directors of Delta Chi Educational Foundation, Barrister Capital Corporation, or Martlet, Inc.
- One or more full terms as a Vice Regent
- Four or more years of service in roles such as “BB,” Alumni Board of Trustees member, committee member, or General Counsel
- Two or more years as an employee of Delta Chi organizations, with a two-year gap since departure at the time of election
Regents must live within the Region they represent.
Method of Election
Regents are elected during the RLA by a majority vote of a quorum of chapters and provisional chapters in their Region. The process includes presentations, a review of qualifications, and a secret ballot vote.

Time of Election
The term of office for Regent is two years, starting June 15 of the election year. Elections occur during odd-numbered years.
Background Check
All applicants for the Regent position must complete a background check. By December 22nd, applicants will receive a secure link to complete this process.
Application Deadline: December 15th
Applications for Regent should be submitted no later than December 15th.
