Post-pandemic, many hotel properties decided to undergo extensive renovations, regardless of predetermined events and contracts. The original convention hotel at the Fort Lauderdale Marriott Harbor Beach Resort & Spa informed Delta Chi of their renovation plans in early December 2023. This meant they were no longer able to host Delta Chi for the 63rd International Convention. As a result, after several weeks of research, the Marriott family offered to enhance Delta Chi’s experience with a luxury property—the JW Marriott Miami Turnberry.
The JW Marriott Miami Turnberry is renowned for its luxurious amenities, impeccable service, and an overall elevated guest experience. The prospect of staying at a property of such high quality without a complete disruption to the 63rd International Convention was an enticing opportunity that will benefit the entire Fraternity. Not to mention, attendees will have premier access to the awesome Tidal Cove Water Park and can swing into action at one of the two 18-hole championship courses!
Additionally, the proximity between the original Fort Lauderdale hotel and the JW Marriott Miami Turnberry made the transition seamless. Despite the location change, the convenience of being near our initial destination allows Delta Chis to maintain travel plans. This smooth transition, coupled with the assurance of a superior quality stay at the JW Marriott Miami Turnberry, promises an outstanding International Convention from July 31 to August 4, 2024. We can’t wait to see you there!
Attendees are expected to book their hotel stays separate from their convention registration. Based on availability, quoted guest room rates will be offered to attendees three days before and three days after the contracted event dates.
Check-in is 4:00 PM, and check-out is 11:00 AM.
All guests arriving before 4:00 PM will be accommodated as rooms become available. Hotel bell staff can arrange to check baggage for guests arriving early and on departure day for those attending afternoon functions.
Reservations for Delta Chi’s 63rd international Convention will be made by individual call-in/hotel weblink available on March 5, 2024.
The JW Marriott Miami Turnberry Resort & Spa is conveniently located with relatively easy access to several airports and transportation options:
Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL): The resort is approximately 12 miles (19 kilometers) south of FLL. The drive usually takes 20-30 minutes, depending on traffic conditions.
Miami International Airport (MIA): The resort is approximately 18 miles (19 kilometers) north from MIA. Depending on traffic, the drive typically takes about 20-25 minutes.
Transportation Options: Taxis, ride-sharing services like Uber and Lyft, and rental car services are readily available for convenient transportation.
Public Transportation: While the resort is not directly served by public transportation, the Aventura Express Shuttle Bus is free and open to the public. Routes cover northern, central, and southern Aventura with all shuttles stopping at the Aventura mall transit terminal garage, located by Nordstrom and JCPenney in the Aventura Mall.
Guests can utilize taxi services or ride share options for short trips. Renting a car might be convenient if you plan to explore the surrounding areas.
The resort’s central location makes it accessible from both major airports, offering flexibility for travelers arriving from different locations. It’s advisable to check with the resort concierge or reservation team for the most up-to-date and specific transportation recommendations based on your travel plans.
Self-parking, fee: $39.00 USD daily (Excludes tax). Valet parking, fee: $48.00 USD daily (Plus 7% sales tax).

CONVENTION BUSINESS
For the 2024 Convention in Miami, undergraduate chapters will have two pre-paid delegates if those chapters paid their Convention Assessment from January 2023 and January 2024.
Each undergraduate chapter will receive one pre-paid delegate registration for each Convention Assessment payment made since the previous Convention. This refers to the Convention Assessment billed by International Headquarters each January. For the 2024 Miami Convention, the two relevant Convention Assessments are from the 2022-23 fiscal year, billed in January 2023, and the 2023-24 fiscal year, billed in January 2024.
Each provisional chapter will receive one paid delegate registration, regardless of the convention assessments billed to and paid by the provisional chapter.
Chapters that are up-to-date with their Convention Assessment payments will have pre-paid delegate registrations and will receive a discount code for registration once delegates are declared through this form. Delegates should be declared by the Chapter “A” or “C” and must be declared by June 1, 2024.
Once pre-paid delegates have been declared, they MUST receive an approval email with their registration discount code from Kristen Kardas, Director of Education, before registering to receive the full registration discount.
If your chapter has not yet paid its 2023 or 2024 Convention Assessment, you will not have a pre-paid delegate. Chapters may remit payment for prepaid delegates until July 5th. If you have questions about your chapter’s payment status, please contact Jessica Robinson, Membership & Accounting Manager at jrobinson@deltachi.org.
In accordance with Delta Chi By-Laws, Article II, Section 2:
Delegates for undergraduate and alumni chapters must be chosen no later than 60 days before Convention.
The Executive Committee will determine whether a delegate / delegation is accredited.
After selecting delegates, chapters will give credentials of their delegates to Headquarters in a manner and format selected by the Executive Committee, no later than 60 days before Convention. This is to allow the Executive Committee time to examine the credentials of delegates.
Revised credentials can be filed with the Executive Committee any time before Convention.
Ideally, delegations from each undergraduate chapter will comprise three people: two active student members likely to return to the chapter the following year, and one alumnus, who is either that chapter’s “BB” or an alumnus of that chapter. At least one delegate from each undergraduate chapter must be an initiated member. As well, no one individual can serve as a delegate for more than one chapter. (See Delta Chi By-Laws – Article II, Section 1.)
In accordance with Delta Chi law, the Executive Committee has set Convention assistance levels for the 2024 Convention. In the past, undergraduate chapters have only qualified for travel assistance if they were located more than 500 miles from the convention site. Now, all active undergraduate chapters qualify for travel assistance, which is based on the round-trip distance (mileage) from the chapter’s campus to the Convention hotel.
The travel assistance is not designed to and will not cover all of the costs of traveling to or hotel costs at the Convention. Delta Chi IHQ will issue a credit to the chapter account after the assistance has been approved. It is up to the chapter to pass on the assistance to the attendee. There will be a brief application for chapters to complete following Convention.
In order to receive the full amount of assistance, each chapter’s or provisional chapter’s delegates must attend all keynote sessions, educational breakout sessions, and be counted during the roll calls of the business meetings. If a chapter misses any of these required sessions, their amount will be reduced by what they missed (ex. if delegates miss half of the required events, but does apply for assistance, they would only qualify for half of the assistance amount).
Below are the assistance amounts, based on round-trip mileage as described above:
- 250-500 miles: $50
- 501-750 miles: $75
- 751-1000 miles: $100
- 1001-1250 miles: $125
- 1251-1500 miles: $150
- 1500-1750 miles: $175
- 1751-2000 miles: $200
- 2001-2250 miles: $225
- 2251-2500 miles: $250
- 2501-2750 miles: $275
- 2751-3000 miles: $300
- 3001-3250 miles: $325
- 3251-3500 miles: $350
- 3501-3750 miles: $375
- 3751-4000+ miles: $400
Additional travel assistance may be given at the discretion of the Executive Committee based on demonstrated need as evidenced on the travel assistance application, eligibility to qualify for the full amount of funds, and remaining funds available.
Delegates for undergraduate and alumni chapters must be chosen no later than 60 days before Convention. Alumni Chapters should declare their delegates through this form by June 1, and should do so prior to registering for Convention.
No one individual can serve as a delegate for more than one chapter. (See Delta Chi By-Laws – Article II, Section 1.)

ALLOCATION OF VOTES
Chartered Undergraduate Chapters: Chartered Chapters receive three votes if their number of members is less than the average for the Fraternity, four votes if their number of members is equal to or greater than the average number of chapter members, or five votes if their membership is equal to or greater than ten members less than double the average chapter membership. The membership number is defined as the number of initiated and dues-paying members, including those initiates who are not yet required to pay dues. Currently, the average chapter size is 42. Therefore:

The 2024 Proposed Delta Chi Law changes have been reviewed and formatted by the Delta Chi Law Committee and reviewed by the Board of Regents (to consult with the most recent copy of Delta Chi Law, click here). All proposed changes will be discussed and considered during the Convention’s business sessions, which will take place on Thursday, August 1st and Friday, August 2nd. The Convention will be voting using an electronic voting system in the form of keypads. Instructions will be provided to each delegate on how to use the keypads prior to voting. There are a total of 13 proposed changes. Within these changes, there are two areas of important legislation each delegate should be prepared to understand: governance and inactive status. To help our delegates, we’ve created two informational videos:
