Love, Mom & Dad: Turning Tragedy Into Progress
September 20, 2020 | 7 p.m. ET
The Anti-Hazing Coalition will host a live nationwide presentation and discussion to kick off HazingPrevention.Org’s National Hazing Prevention Week on Sunday, September 20 at 7 p.m. Eastern.
As many campuses have moved away from in-person experiences this fall, the AHC wants to ensure students receive hazing prevention education. The AHC parents will present a program streamed live on social media to share their sons’ stories and educate current students about hazing prevention. The program will include Q&A and breakout rooms will be available afterwards for individual campus discussions.
These families each suffered unimaginable loss as a result of fraternity hazing. They are here to share their stories and to challenge ALL fraternity/sorority members to take up the fight to end hazing now. If we are not actively part of solving this problem, then we are responsible for its continued persistence. Whether you’ve been hazed, know that hazing is happening on your campus, or even if you’ve hazed one of your members in the past, we must all actively take part in this solving this problem so that no family has to endure this kind of tragedy. Let’s be the generation of fraternity and sorority members who end hazing once and for all.

Putting the ‘Just’ in Justice
September 23, 2020 | 3 p.m. ET
We are living in a time when the microscope of society is looking at the concept of justice with concern, if not fear. People are asking the question, does justice come at the cost of someone else’s liberty, freedom, or advancement? Joe uses personal experiences as a lawyer, community member, and African-American man to define the concept of “justice” and challenges participants to move society towards a future of equity and lasting change—where everyone wins.
This webinar is offered by CAMPUSSPEAK, a friend of the Fraternity. CAMPUSPEAK provides transformative learning experiences to educate and inspire students for success in their college years and beyond.

“HAZE” Screening & Discussion (National Hazing Prevention Week)
September 24, 2020 | 8:30 p.m. ET
National GORDIEday is held annually as part of NHPW to raise awareness about alcohol overdose and encourage student intervention. Join the “HAZE” screening and discussion to expand your chapter or colony’s readiness for student intervention.
This screening is hosted by The Gordie Center. The Gordie Center was founded in remembrance of Lynn Gordon Bailey, Jr. (“Gordie”). On September 17th, 2004, Gordie was found dead at the Chi Psi fraternity house at the University of Colorado at Boulder. On the evening of September 16th, Gordie and twenty-six other pledges, dressed in coats and ties for “bid night,” were blindfolded and taken to the Arapaho Roosevelt National Forest, where they were “encouraged” to drink four handles (1.75 liter bottles) of whiskey and six (1.5 liter) bottles of wine around a bonfire in 30 minutes.

DignityU: Building Up or Tearing Down
September 30, 2020 | 7 p.m. ET
October 1, 2020 | 7 p.m. ET
IFC and Chapter Officers are encouraged to attend a free presentation of DignityU: Building Up or Tearing Down by Mike Dilbeck, made possible thanks to the gracious support of Sigma Nu Fraternity, Acacia, Phi Gamma Delta, Alpha Tau Omega, and Affinity Consultants. This is the first in a series of programming offered by the NIC Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Task Force.
The primary objective of DignityU is to identify and distinguish the essential elements of dignity, as distinguished by Dr. Donna Hicks, internationally renowned authority on dignity and expert consultant to DignityU. There is also a call to look in to how dignity impacts a person’s own thoughts and actions, in both their lives and in their respective organizations. More importantly, a key component will be to demonstrate ways to intervene against the personal violations of someone’s dignity, while recognizing the difference made by respecting the dignity in others. As a filmmaker and video producer for over 30 years, Mike produced a film in 2008 that would change the course of his career — and his life. RESPONSE ABILITY: A Call for Courageous Leadership, the award-winning educational program on bystander intervention for 40 organizations and over 300 college campuses, immediately became a distinct and special project. This one struck a chord. This one caused a demand. This one sparked a movement. After 12 years of leading this movement for bystander empowerment — and personally surviving two types of cancer — Mike launched DignityU in 2018. Here, Mike educates and empowers us all to make the choice in every interaction to build someone up rather than tear them down. To honor dignity — our inherent birthright to feel valuable and worthy. Learning Outcomes As a result of attending the program, students will learn:- How to define the term “dignity.”
- How to describe how dignity impacts their daily thoughts and actions.
- How to distinguish the essential elements of dignity
- How to identify ways the elements of dignity are violated. How to recognize the difference they can make for others by honoring their dignity
