Mentor Program

Mentor program
You remember what it was like to walk the halls of your campus for the first few weeks of school or to go to your first Delta Chi events when you were just figuring out college and finding your place.
Imagine being the person who makes that easier for your brothers, while helping them make the most of their Delta Chi experience. That’s what mentors do.
Delta Chi’s Mentor Program is your chance to step up, invest in your brothers, and build something real. As a mentor, you’re the guy people look to for support, advice, and leadership. You help others grow while leveling up yourself.
The Mentor Committee is made up of Delta Chi’s MVPs, who embody the Fraternity’s values as they guide brothers toward their academic, career, and life goals.
Why It Matters: Four Values, One Purpose
Delta Chi’s Mentor Program is a structured, values-based initiative designed to:
1.
Support undergraduate members in their academic, personal and professional development
2.
Foster genuine, safe and meaningful relationships among members.
Provide a network-based mentoring team, rather than a one-to-one assignment.
3.
Build connection through the Fraternity’s values
Build your legacy.
Be the reason someone sticks around and thrives.
Develop skills that actually matter.
Think leadership, communication, career readiness and real-world confidence.
Make meaningful connections.
With brothers, alumni, and mentors, all supporting each other.
Get noticed.
Employers are looking for leaders, and having mentor experience will show what you can bring to the table.
It picks up right where In the Bond: Associate Member Onboarding left off – with each initiated brother having developed their own personal development plan and ready to join a close network of brothers who will support his aspirations and challenge him to get there.
How it works:
1. First, the chapter will appoint its Mentor Program Manager (MPM) – this might be a stand-alone position or part of an existing role (like Brotherhood Chair).
2. Using an application process (and input from the executive board and advisors), the MPM will select the Mentor Committee.
- As mentors prepare for graduation and are recognized for their work, new mentors should be added to the committee.
3. Over four sessions, mentors will be participate in training on how to guide members toward their academic, career, and life goals.
- Sessions cover how to: become a great mentor, utilize and connect brothers with campus resources, connect this experience to Delta Chi, and help a brother navigate challenges.
- Once they participate in these training sessions as an introduction, they will then officially become members of the Mentor Committee.
4. The Mentor Committee will meet on their own schedule (monthly, bi-weekly, weekly) to check in and review mentee progress.
5. Each mentor should check in with their group members weekly during a member’s initial month of membership, and then as needed throughout their years of membership. Check In meetings should happen especially in critical times throughout the school year or when big milestones for his goals are coming up.
- Mentors are there to support each brother’s personal development plan, focusing on academic progress, professional preparedness, personal and fraternity involvement.
Delta Chi has the tools needed for the mentors and the program to be successful: sample applications, training materials, check-in meeting agendas, self-assessments, and tools to link brothers up with campus resources.

Mentors are Delta Chi’s MVPs
Like the martlets on Delta Chi’s coat of arms, mentors are on a constant quest for knowledge, learning and adventure. This mythological creature is depicted as footless, perpetually in flight, and on heraldic coats of arms, representing family members who live on their own merits and virtues. They strive forward in pursuit of their goals.
If you care about people, have a drive to grow, and want to leave your mark on Delta Chi, this is for you. We need brothers with heart, hustle, and a commitment to helping others rise. Being on the Mentor Committee will empower you to:
According to Delta Chi’s risk management policy, as of Jan. 1, 2025, the Big Brother program ended. No further Big Brother ceremonies or activities can be held. Across fraternities in the last 20 years, Big Brother night specifically is known as one of the “Three Deadly Nights” and as one of the most potentially dangerous points in the fraternity experience as a whole … because repeatedly, men have made the choice to haze their little brothers with lethal levels of alcohol.
The Delta Chi Mentor Program focuses on the true purpose of a Big Brother – being a mentor and guide, as well as a friend, in the bond. We encourage your chapter to use this program to invest in your brothers and bonds.
This program was developed throughout 2025, with the help and feedback of undergraduate members and advisors who have been in your shoes. Through surveying, engaging in conversations with chapter leaders and advisors, and holding an in-person summit, together we built a program to meet the needs and aspirations of today’s members.
The Fall 2025 term is a preliminary rollout of In the Bond: Associate Member Onboarding and Mentor Program. Mid-fall, we will reach out to hear how it went and gather your feedback on how we can continue to improve this program and the evolving Delta Chi experience.
