INDIANAPOLIS, The Delta Chi Fraternity is excited to officially announce it will be rebuilding the Ohio State chapter and reengaging the fraternity and sorority community at The Ohio State during the fall 2025 semester.
The Ohio State University is a public land-grant research university in Columbus, Ohio, founded in 1870. OSU is one of the largest US universities with an undergraduate enrollment of 46,815 (fall 2024). The Delta Chi Ohio State Chapter was originally founded in 1902 and has initiated over 1,500 members. In the spring of 2025, as the chapter size began to dwindle, the current members of the chapter voted to close the chapter. Following this action, the Executive Committee of the Delta Chi Board of Regents issued an interim suspension of the chapter to prepare for the chapter rebuild and be reestablished in the fall of 2025. The Ohio State sorority and fraternity community is made up of 64 chapters across four councils. The IFC is made up of 26 chapters with an average chapter size of 62 members (spring 2025). Throughout this process, the campus staff, chapter alumni, and the local housing corporation have worked in partnership with Delta Chi Fraternity staff to prepare for a successful reestablishment of the chapter over the course of the next academic year.
Alex Hart, Director of Growth, “For a while now, I have seen Ohio State as a real opportunity for Delta Chi to have a large, sustainable chapter that thrives in that community. Though unfortunate in many ways, a complete restart gives us the opportunity to rebuild the chapter with a strong foundation that will prepare Delta Chi for years of success at Ohio State. With great resources in the campus Sorority and Fraternity Life staff, and involved and engaged alumni, I believe Delta Chi is well-positioned for a strong and successful return.” Due to Ohio State’s deferred recruitment practice, Delta Chi will utilize a hybrid model to rebuild the chapter during both the fall of 2025 and the spring of 2026. Delta Chi staff are anticipated to arrive on campus in October to establish an initial group of non-first-year members prior to the end of the fall semester. Delta Chi staff will then return to campus in the spring of 2026 to support the chapter’s continued growth throughout the IFC primary recruitment process and beyond.
