2027 Delta Chi bracket challenge

With heavy hearts, we share the passing of “AA” Emeritus and Order of the White Carnation member Brother Michael L. Carroll, Auburn ’71. For more than five decades, Mike’s devotion to Delta Chi touched generations of brothers, staff members, volunteers, and friends of the Fraternity.

Mike was initiated into the Auburn Chapter and the Bond of Delta Chi in 1970. For more than 56 years, his dedication reflected an enduring passion for Delta Chi and an unwavering commitment to our ideals of friendship, character, justice, and a sound education. In 2002, he was inducted into the Order of the White Carnation.

Mike served Delta Chi as Regent from 1986-1987, “CC” from 1987-1990, “DD” from 1990-1992, and “AA” from 1992-1994. In 2022, Brother Carroll was recognized as “AA” Emeritus in honor of his leadership and extraordinary contributions to the Fraternity.

His service extended equally to the Delta Chi Foundation. Mike served as a Director from 1993 until his passing and Treasurer from 1996-1999, and Vice President from 1999-2004. A member of the Trustees Society, he was also a Delta Chi Foundation New Founder. At the time of his passing, Mike was serving as co-chair of the Delta Chi Foundation’s Great Advantages Capital Campaign, launched during the 2026 International Convention.

Yet for all Mike accomplished at the highest levels of Delta Chi, perhaps his greatest legacy can be found in the lives of the people he cared about. He took a genuine interest in undergraduate brothers, young staff members, recent alumni, and others throughout the Fraternity. Mike cared deeply for people, and he consistently looked for opportunities to encourage, mentor, and support those around him.

That commitment was especially evident in his chapter service. Mike faithfully served his Auburn Chapter as Alumni Board of Trustees President and Housing Corporation President. He also found a second Delta Chi home at Georgia Tech, serving that chapter in those same roles and investing himself deeply in its brotherhood.

Mike is survived by his beloved wife, Patti, who was by his side at so many Delta Chi events and was herself a cherished part of the relationships Mike built throughout the Fraternity.

Brother Carroll exemplified what we mean by Brotherhood of a Lifetime. His leadership was consequential, his friendship was genuine, and his devotion to Delta Chi endured throughout his life. Delta Chi is stronger because he was one of us. He will be deeply missed and long remembered.

Arrangements will be shared when they become available.
