Delta Chi Announces Washington University Expansion for the Spring 2020 Semester

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana – The Delta Chi International Fraternity and Washington University in St. Louis (WashU) Campus Life are excited to announce the return of Delta Chi on campus, beginning in the spring 2020 semester.

Originally part of the Greek community from 1906 to 1909, Delta Chi left the WashU campus due to the organizational shift from a law fraternity to a social fraternity.  WashU has nearly 8,000 undergraduate students and 11 men’s social fraternities who are part of the local Interfraternity Council (IFC).

“We felt like (Delta Chi’s) approach aligned with our strategic vision, and we’re excited to welcome them,” Molly Bennett, Program Coordinator for Fraternity/Sorority Life at WashU said.

Founded in 1853, WashU is a prestigious university offering degrees from 10 schools in seven academic divisions, including art and architecture, arts and sciences, business, engineering, law, medicine, and social work and public health.  The University received several top-20 nods in 2018, including second in “Social Work” and eighth in “Research and Medical Schools,” according to the U.S. News and World Report, second in “Best Run Colleges” and seventh in “Top-25 Schools for Entrepreneurs,” according to The Princeton Review, and tenth in “Best Architecture Schools,” according to the Architectural Record.

“(Delta Chi) emphasized that they want to learn what our IFC and school want out of our fraternities and kind of be the model for that, which I really appreciate,” Jimmy Abraham, IFC President, said.

If you are an alumni member of Delta Chi and are interested in volunteering in the expansion process or serving on the advisory board, please fill out this survey and a staff member will be in contact with you.
