Delta Chi Announces San Diego State University Expansion for the Spring 2020 Semester

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana – The Delta Chi International Fraternity and San Diego State University (SDSU) in San Diego, California are excited to announce the return of Delta Chi on campus, beginning in the spring 2020 semester.

“We first pursued SDSU’s highly selective expansion process in spring 2018,” Heather Lockwood, Senior Director of Field Operations, said. “We were one of three organizations chosen to present to the community. San Diego State is a university that has seen consistent growth and is working hard to create a strong and positive fraternity experience for its students. We are beyond excited to help the University do ‘fraternity right’ and bring the very best of Delta Chi back to the community. We know that right now is the perfect time for us to continue to cultivate our relationship with SDSU and be a strong and collaborative partner with the entire fraternal community.”

Originally part of the Greek community at SDSU in 1969, Delta Chi returns to campus for the first time since 1996.  Founded in 1897, SDSU boasts over 36,000 students across 195 degree programs with over 400,000 alumni. The University is a leader in higher education, as it ranks No. 60 among public universities in the U.S. News & World Report’s annual ranking of America’s Best Colleges.  Other distinctions include the No. 12 ranked undergraduate international business program in the nation, a top-100 nod from the U.S. News & World Report’s list for its business and engineering programs, and a top-five ranking (No. 4) for its rehabilitation counseling program.  SDSU ranks No. 1 nationally in graduation rate performance, based on U.S. News & World Report’s most recent college rankings.

“Returning to San Diego State University is an integral piece to our strategic and intentional growth as an organization,” Jerod Breit, Executive Director and CEO, said.  “Not only does this assist our expansion efforts in the West, but further demonstrates our partnership with outstanding campus professionals on great campuses, all for the benefit of our future members and alumni.”

Delta Chi joins a Greek community of more than 40 recognized sororities and fraternities, which includes more than 3,600 student members.  The members of these organizations combined for an overall cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.13 in the spring 2019 semester, with fraternities recording a GPA higher than 3.00.
