Marquez Brown Hired as New Associate Executive Director

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Iowa City September 12, 2016 – The Delta Chi Fraternity is excited to announce the hiring of Marquez L. Brown (Iowa ’01) from Cleveland, Ohio as the Fraternity’s new Associate Executive Director.

Most recently Marquez served as a Staff Representative with AFSCME Ohio Council 8. In this role, he negotiated collective bargaining agreements for nearly 2,000 employees and represented them in grievance hearings, mediations, and arbitration cases. For the last nine years, he served on the board of directors of OhioGuidestone, a $50 million dollar non-profit organization that brings hope to the lives of those who need it the most.

Prior to his work with AFSCME, Marquez supported and managed several local, statewide and national campaigns. He earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from The University of Iowa in 2001. After graduating, Marquez joined Delta Chi’s headquarters staff as a Leadership Consultant, where he traveled to over 75 chapters and colonies and served as House Director for two Delta Chi Chapters. Marquez has served the Fraternity in numerous capacities, as a Regent from 2008 to 2014, ABT Member, ABT President, “BB”, House Corporation board member, “A”s Academy facilitator, donor to the Delta Chi Education Foundation at the Sir Edward Coke Club giving level, and as “CC” from 2014-2016.

“I am excited and humbled to join Delta Chi staff once again,” Brown stated. “This is an important time for the Fraternity, and I look forward to the work ahead of us as we implement the strategic initiatives that were unveiled at the 60th International Convention and provide innovative resources and opportunities for all our members, both undergrad and alumni.”

“Marquez’s outstanding talents will help Delta Chi achieve our short-range goals and advance the success of our 2021 Strategic Plan. He is truly an asset to the Fraternity,” said Keith Shriver, Executive Director and CEO. Marquez will officially join the IHQ staff October 1, 2016, with his initial focus being staff development and fraternity growth.
